As we reflect on the history of the Magna Carta and its 800th anniversary, it’s in no doubt that food has played an important role in history. From medieval royal feasts to our annual Lincolnshire Sausage Festival, food is what brings people together.
In fact, we believe that our local food is worthy of royalty; a fact that we celebrated over the Great Magna Carta Weekend. A number of independent Lincolnshire businesses took part in the food festival, selling a variety of food and beverages from bottled beer to jams and cheeses. It was a feast fit for a king!
Held in St Mark’s square, our Select Lincolnshire for Food festival got people’s taste buds tingling with a variety of food including; historic 15th century food, Lincolnshire sausage rings and even homemade marshmallows. Our celebration also saw the parade of the Radiating Signal flags, with each flag representing the heritage and character of Lincolnshire.
